TikTok App Store link not working? Here is the fix

Last updated

TikTok opens links in its own browser, and on iPhone that browser often cannot open the App Store. Put a Jumper link in your bio instead: inside TikTok it shows a page with one big “Open in App Store” button, tries to open the store by itself once, and on Android hands the link to Chrome, which opens Google Play.

How to fix your TikTok link

  1. Make a link for your app. Paste your App Store or Google Play link on the create page. Jumper fills in the rest.
  2. Make one just for TikTok. Add an install link with the channel TikTok, so you can see how many people come from there.
  3. Put it in your bio. Paste the link in your TikTok profile’s website field, or in a video’s comment or caption where links are allowed.
  4. Test it from TikTok. Open your profile in TikTok on an iPhone and an Android phone and tap the link. You should reach the store in one tap.

Why it breaks

When someone taps a link in TikTok, TikTok does not open Safari or Chrome. It opens the page inside its own browser, so people stay in the app. That browser is fine for reading a web page, but it is not good at handing a link over to another app, and the App Store is another app.

On iPhone, an apps.apple.com link inside TikTok’s browser often shows a blank page, a “cannot open page” message, or a web version of the store with a button that does nothing. Many people give up right there. You never see it happen; you only see fewer downloads than taps.

Instagram has the same problem, but at least it has an “Open in browser” menu. TikTok has none, so people have no easy way out.

On iPhone, Jumper sees that the tap came from TikTok’s browser and shows a small page on go.oxi.cc with your app’s name, icon and one big “Open in App Store” button. That button uses the App Store app’s own address, which TikTok lets through. The page also makes one automatic attempt to open the store, and the button stays in case TikTok stops it. Below it is a “Copy link” box, for anyone who prefers to paste the link into Safari.

On Android, TikTok blocks the usual way of opening the Play Store app. Jumper hands the Google Play link to Chrome instead (an Android “intent” for Chrome), and Chrome opens Google Play. If Chrome is not installed, the Google Play web page opens instead, which still lets people install.

Everyone else, like people on a computer, goes to your website or to a landing page for your app.

What we tested

These are the TikTok rows of our in-app browser test results, last updated 25 October 2026. “Automatic test” rows check, on every code change, what Jumper sends to TikTok’s browser. “Real phone” rows are taps on a real phone, with the date.

For developers: the Android route

If you build your own redirect, this is the form that works from TikTok on Android: an intent that gives the https Google Play address to Chrome, with the same address as the fallback.

intent://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=<package>&referrer=<referrer>#Intent;scheme=https;package=com.android.chrome;S.browser_fallback_url=<the https Play URL, encoded>;end

Questions

Why does my App Store link not work in TikTok?

TikTok opens links in its own browser. On iPhone that browser often does not hand App Store links to the App Store app, so people see a blank page, an error or nothing at all. TikTok also has no “Open in browser” button to escape.

How do I fix the app link in my TikTok bio?

Use a link that notices TikTok’s browser and gives people a big button that opens the App Store with one tap. A free Jumper link does that on iPhone, opens Google Play on Android, and sends computers to your website.

Does it open the App Store by itself?

It tries once. The page makes one automatic attempt to open the App Store, and the button stays on screen in case TikTok stops it. One tap on the button always works where the automatic attempt does not.

What happens on Android?

TikTok blocks the usual way of opening the Play Store app. Jumper hands the Google Play link to Chrome instead, and Chrome opens Google Play. If Chrome is missing, the Google Play web page opens.

Does campaign tracking survive TikTok?

Yes. The App Store button carries your campaign token and the Android route carries the Google Play referrer, so installs from TikTok are counted for your TikTok link.

Is it the same problem as in Instagram?

Yes, with one difference: Instagram has an “Open in browser” menu, TikTok has none. That is why Jumper’s page in TikTok puts the button first and offers “Copy link” for pasting into Safari.
