App Store link generator

Last updated

Paste your app’s store link or id below. You get a clean link for each store, without country codes or tracking junk, ready to copy. Add campaign tags if you want to see which post brings downloads, and copy the code that opens the link from your app. It is free and runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Paste a store link or id. From the App Store, Google Play, Galaxy Store, AppGallery or Microsoft Store. The Share button in each store copies the link.
  2. Add tags if you like. A channel and a campaign turn into Apple’s ct and Google Play’s utm values, encoded the way the stores expect.
  3. Copy what you need. The clean link for your website or bio, the app-to-app link, or a few lines of Swift, Kotlin, Dart or JavaScript.

Store links copied from a browser often carry extra parts: a country code, a language, a long app name, tracking parameters. They still work, but they are long, and a country code can send people to the wrong store. The generator keeps only what the store needs to find your app.

These are the forms it gives you, one per store. They are the same addresses a Jumper link sends people to.

Store link formats

The id is the part you see in your store listing’s address.

StoreClean linkThe id
App Storehttps://apps.apple.com/app/id<number>Numbers after “id” (310633997)
Google Playhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=<package>The package name (com.whatsapp)

Campaign tags, in plain words

If you share your app in many places, you want to know which place brings downloads. Both big stores can tell you, if the link says where the visitor came from. That is what campaign tags do. You give each place a name, like tiktok or newsletter, and the store counts downloads for each name.

Apple uses two tags. ct is the campaign: the generator joins your channel and campaign with a hyphen and cuts it to 30 characters, as Apple asks. pt is your provider token, a number from App Store Connect (Analytics, then Campaigns). Apple only reads pt together with ct.

Google Play uses one tag, the referrer, which holds utm_source (your channel), utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content. The whole referrer is encoded once more, because Google Play decodes it before your app reads it. It may be 512 characters long at most.

Here is what the generator makes for WhatsApp with the channel tiktok and the campaign spring:

App Store:   https://apps.apple.com/app/id310633997?pt=123456&ct=tiktok-spring&mt=8
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp&referrer=utm_source%3Dtiktok%26utm_medium%3Dlink%26utm_campaign%3Dspring

Open the store from your app

Want a “Rate us” button or a link to your other app? Open the store link from your code. The generator writes the lines for you with your own link. This is what they look like for the Google Play link above:

// Swift (iOS)
if let url = URL(string: "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp") {
    UIApplication.shared.open(url)
}

// Kotlin (Android)
startActivity(Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp")))

// Dart (Flutter, url_launcher)
await launchUrl(
  Uri.parse('https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp'),
  mode: LaunchMode.externalApplication,
);

// JavaScript (web; React Native: Linking.openURL)
window.location.href = "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp";

iPhone, iPad and Mac

Apple often sells one listing for iPhone, iPad and Mac. WhatsApp and Pages are examples. Then there is one id, and the same link opens the App Store on an iPhone and the Mac App Store on a Mac. The generator says so when it sees a Mac link, and never invents a separate Mac id.

If your Mac app is a separate listing, it has its own id. Paste that link on its own to get its clean form.

A store link opens one store, on every device. That is perfect for a website button that says “Download on the App Store”. It is not enough when the same link has to work for iPhone and Android people, like a bio link, a QR code on a poster or a link in a video.

A Jumper link is one short address on oxi.cc. It sends iPhones to the App Store, Android phones to Google Play and computers to your website or a landing page for your app. It works inside Instagram and TikTok, where plain App Store links often fail, and it adds your campaign tags for you.

One link for both stores?

A store link opens one store. A Jumper link opens the App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android, works inside Instagram and TikTok, and carries your campaign tags. 3 free credits: each link or page uses one.

Questions

Is the App Store link generator free?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and stores nothing. It runs in your browser: what you paste never leaves your computer.

Which stores does it support?

The App Store, Google Play, the Samsung Galaxy Store, Huawei AppGallery and the Microsoft Store. Paste a link from any of them, or an id like 310633997 or com.whatsapp.

Why does it remove the country from my App Store link?

A link with /us/ in it sends everyone to the US store, even people in other countries. Without a country, Apple opens the store of the visitor’s own country.

Do I need a separate link for the Mac App Store?

Often not. Apple sells many apps as one listing for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Then the same App Store link opens the Mac App Store on a Mac. The generator never makes up a Mac id.

What are ct and pt?

They are Apple’s campaign tags. ct names the campaign (up to 30 characters) and pt is your provider token from App Store Connect. With both in the link, App Store Connect counts downloads per campaign.

Can one link open the App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android?

Not a store link: each one opens one store. For one link that picks the right store on every phone, make a Jumper link. It also works inside Instagram and TikTok.
