# One app link for your Instagram bio

Last updated 4 November 2026

Put one Jumper link in your Instagram bio and story stickers. iPhones go to the App Store, Android phones go to Google Play, and people on a computer see your website or a page for your app. It also handles Instagram’s own browser, where plain App Store links often show a blank page. You need nothing in your app, and 3 credits are free.

## How to set it up

1. **Make your app’s link.** Paste your App Store or Google Play link at app.jumper.to/new. Jumper fills in the name, icon and both stores.
2. **Add an Instagram link.** On your app’s page, add an install link with the channel Instagram and the medium bio. “Add the social set” makes one for each big network at once.
3. **Paste it into your profile.** In Instagram, open Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link, and paste it. Use the same link, or a story link, on story stickers.
4. **Test it from Instagram.** Open your profile in the Instagram app on an iPhone and an Android phone and tap the link. You see exactly what your followers see.

## Where links work on Instagram

Instagram does not make every link tappable. Put your link where people can tap it, and point to it everywhere else.

### Links on Instagram

Where a link can be tapped, and what to do where it cannot.

| Place | Tappable? | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Bio | Yes | Your main link. Instagram lets you add several; the first one shows on your profile. |
| Story link sticker | Yes | Use a separate story link to count stories apart from the bio. Keep the story as a highlight. |
| DMs | Yes | Send the link when someone asks where to get the app. |
| Post and Reel captions | Usually not | Write “link in bio” and say what people get. |
| Comments | No | Pin a comment that points to your bio. |
| Ads | Instagram’s own rules | App ads have their own setup in Meta’s ad tools; check their rules before using any short link. |

Instagram changes these features from time to time; your Edit profile screen is the final word.

## Why a plain App Store link fails in Instagram

When someone taps a link in Instagram, Instagram does not open Safari or Chrome. It opens the page in its own browser, so people stay in the app. That browser is fine for reading a web page, but on iPhone it often does not pass App Store links to the App Store app. People see a blank page, an error, or a web version of the store whose button does nothing.

You never see this happen. You only see fewer downloads than profile visits. Most people do not know about the “Open in browser” menu, so they give up.

## What happens when someone taps your link

On iPhone, Jumper notices Instagram’s browser and shows a short page on go.oxi.cc with your app’s icon and name. Instagram usually lets a page try the App Store once by itself, so that is what the page does first. If that does not get people out, the button tries one way out at a time, such as the App Store page or opening the link in Safari, and switches to the next way when a tap does not work.

A “Still stuck?” box is always there, with Instagram’s own “Open in browser” steps and a Copy link button. We change the order of the ways out as phone tests show what works, without you touching your link.

On Android, Jumper asks the phone to open Google Play directly. If Instagram refuses, the Google Play web page opens instead, and people can still install. People on a computer go to your website or to a landing page for your app with a QR code.

## What we tested

“Automatic check” rows run on every change to Jumper and check what it sends to Instagram’s browser. “Real phone” rows are taps on a real phone, with the date. The results for all ten apps are on our test results page.

### Instagram test results

From our in-app browser test results, newest first.

| Phone | Tapped from | How we tested | Result | Date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| iPhone, iOS 26 | DM | Real phone | The store opened directly | 1 November 2026 |
| Android 14 | Any | Automatic check | Straight to the store | 25 October 2026 |
| Android 15 | Any | Automatic check | Straight to the store | 25 October 2026 |
| iPhone, iOS 18 | Any | Automatic check | Jumper’s page | 25 October 2026 |
| iPhone, iOS 26 | Any | Automatic check | Jumper’s page | 25 October 2026 |

Instagram updates its app often. We test again when something changes and publish the date.

## One link for the bio, one for stories

All your links open the same app. The difference is what you learn. Give the bio, stories and a paid post their own link each, and Jumper shows the taps for each one the same day, along with how many of those taps reached the store. App Store Connect counts downloads for each link’s campaign, and Google Play passes the campaign on to your analytics.

On free credits each link is a short random address. With a paid credit you choose it, like oxi.cc/urappinsta, which is easier to read out in a video or a live stream.

## What it does not do

Instagram can change how its browser treats links at any time. When it does, our tests notice and we change the way out; your link stays the same. Jumper cannot make captions or comments tappable.

Jumper counts taps; Apple and Google count installs, and Apple hides campaign numbers that are too small. The link does not open your app when it is already installed, has no deferred deep links and does not follow people inside your app. It is a marketing link and its numbers, not an attribution platform.

## Questions

### Why does my App Store link not work in my Instagram bio?

Instagram opens links in its own browser. On iPhone that browser often does not hand App Store links to the App Store app, so people see a blank page or a store page with a button that does nothing. A Jumper link notices Instagram’s browser and gets people out of it.

### Does it work in stories and DMs too?

Yes. Story link stickers and links in DMs open in the same in-app browser as the bio, and Jumper handles them the same way. Make a separate link for stories if you want to see them apart from the bio.

### Can I put it on my Linktree or another link-in-bio page?

Yes. Add your Jumper link as one of the buttons. The tap still happens inside Instagram’s browser, so Jumper sees it and takes the same way out.

### Can the link read “instagram” instead of random letters?

Yes, with a paid credit you choose the address, like oxi.cc/urappinsta. On free credits the address is a short random code. Both work the same.

### What does it cost?

3 free credits: each link or page uses one. Free credits renew every year. After that: $2 a credit a year, 10 credits for $10, 100 credits for $20. Taps are unlimited and there are no ads.

### Will the link open my app if it is already installed?

No. A Jumper link always goes to the store, which shows an “Open” button when the app is installed. Opening a screen inside your app needs Universal Links and App Links on your own domain.
